Loading...After visiting FP Journe today, I attended a press conference at Rudis Sylva who developed a new concept called the harmonious oscillator. This concept has accomplished what no Tourbillon did in a wristwatch.
While a Tourbillon is able to help reduce the effect of earth’s gravity on a pocketwatch, it cannot really eliminate the gravity on a wristwatch. The harmonious oscillator however is able to completely eliminate earth’s gravity’s effect on a wristwatch by having two balances that work together. I am visiting the manufacture on Monday and then I hope to come up with a more accurate and precise explanation than I am giving now at 2.30 am. Photos to come in a couple days as well.
The CEO Jacky Epitaux took a lot of time to explain the watch and its functionality. In addition, his watchmaker gave a lot of explanations.
There are currently two models, one square model, and one round one. The square model has a sapphire glass on the left side to give insight into the movement. Both watches are stunning, and wait until I come back with a proper mechanical explanation of this new concept that is implemented for the first time in watchmaking history in a wristwatch. This is basically a watchmaking revolution that compares to the development of the Tourbillon by Louis A. Breguet about 200 years ago.
