Rolex Air King Pan Am? Or is it an Airking Petroleum, an oil and gas company?

Rolex Air King Pan Am? Or is it an Airking Petroleum, an oil and gas company?

Initially I posted this on April 18th, 2009.  A while later, I was able to find out a lot more, continue below for details.

This is NOT a Pan Am Rolex Air King from the 70s. One like it was auctioned off at Antiquorum in April 2008.

Someone told me that this watch was made for an oil and gas company, and not Pan Am. The company is supposedly called Airking Petroleum? (Wait a moment, and look below where I link to my research about this timepiece!!!)

Antiquorum calls this watch falsely (they may not have known better at the time?) a Pan Am Logo watch. The auction on April 17, 2008, lot 68, was the same kind of watch with this dial, and it sold for exactly 7000 US$.

It took me a few months of research, and with some luck and diligence, I was able to find out the true story behind this Rolex Air King logo watch.  Follow my story in my other blogpost over here. Not only was I able to do the proper research, but I am also delivering full proof of the true story behind this watch by showing you a certificate of Rolex which clearly shows the company it was delivered to.  It was delivered to a Libyan oil company.
