The end of time?

The end of time?

I happened to meet a very interesting person at the GTE watchfair in Geneva in January of this year.

Jean Marc from 219 is a jeweler, a watchmaker, but above all a highly spirited and educated person in Mexican history, the Mayan history and culture.  We had quite some interesting conversations, about watches, philosophy and history.

Banned to the east sea, legends says that the God of The East
Star would come back to reverse the power and to command
the whole Mayan Nation.

KUKULKAN HIGH JEWELLERY MUZO EMERALDS GMT
expresses the amazing symbol of the pre-columbian plumed snake, being
the first watch ever created using maya numerology as time indicator
and offering maya’s low relief hand-made engraving as a particular
esthetical code. Traditionally set exclusively in high jewellery items,
Muzo Mine emeralds (Columbia) were considered too precious and
too consequent to be used in watch making. In 2012 and as never
made before, weight’s price has been sacrificed for this 12 pieces
limited edition in order to dedicate to the legendary Kukulkan the
most legendary gem ornament and to propose, as a final result, a
unique and prestigious collection piece.

52 Muzo emeralds baguettes setted after having been sorted directly in the muzo mines of Colombia so as to get the most homogenous result (12 carat total weight). Mayan century was 52 years long so number 52 was sacred and revelant because it’s a multiple of number 13, which was important for the mayas. (Chichen Itzá scales are number 51 + the top of the pyramid means 52, for each side).

Water resistance: 5 ATM

Glass: Sapphire crystal without anti-reflecting treatment

Case backside: The case back side offers the surprise of a traditional mayan Low relief engraving (200 hours hand work) representing the symbol of death”(found in Chichen Itzá ruins) surroundhead” by the circle of the the 20 days of the Tzolkin Kalendar which is the calendar of the East Star (260 days), the Star of the Kukulkan (known as a planet by the romans and called Venus because it’s cycle is the same than human being preignancy). The Tzolkin was apparently invented by the olmecs 3000 before Christ birth. Numbers 13 and 20 were sacred by the mayas and they adopted this calendar because the 260 days were associated to human preignancy and to wheat grow period (which is associated to the skin of the snake). Each day is associated to a different glyph which represents one or several symbols like crocodile, Dragon, wind, death, snake, moon, jaguar, eagle, etc. This association is supposed to express the arrival of the Kukulkan on the 12.21.2012 to reverse the power and command the whole mayan nation in synchronisation with the birth of the sixth sun.

Strap: 2 different straps (Full grain leather Alligator strap and rubber strap) with stainless steel deployant claps

Jean Marc is holding one of his timepieces dedicated to the Mayan calendar in his hands.
