Watchdinner in Düsseldorf

Watchdinner in Düsseldorf

Recently, I attended a watchdinner organized by a German publishing house called Ebner Verlag. The dinner presented watches from brands including Hublot, Zenith, Montblanc, Corum, C.F. Bucherer and Chronoswiss.

While the video is in German, Gisbert Brunner is explaining the history behind the name “Rolex”.  According to him, this name stands for “Rolling Export”.  He is also describing the relationship between the Aegler family and Hans Wilsdorf, and the history of the family Heininger.

The dinner took place in the Steigenberger Parkhotel in Düsseldorf, Germany’s fashion capital.  The hotel is located on the Königstrasse, the main shopping street of Düsseldorf and one of the most elegant shopping streets in Germany.

The dinner took place in a rather oldfashioned setting with Gisbert Brunner, a wellknown German watchjournalist, presenting history and brands of the Swiss watchindustry.

Some impressions from the room and the dinner table.  And James Bond on the powerpoint slide greeting everybody… 😉

While BMW also sponsored the event, it was primarily about watches.

It was a pleasurable evening and I met some interesting and nice people.  However, I find it regretful that we only had very little time to view the exhibited watches and talk with the representatives of the watchcompanies.

Last but not least, thank you to Robert-Jan and Ebner Verlag for the invitation.

Spread the love
