(Video from Youtube) The idea and world of automatons and watches with mechanically moving objects on the dial or the back of the watch is not new. Blancpain used to have “pornographic” details on the back of the movement, and we all heard of the singing bird pistols and other automatons. When you come to the Vallee de Joux, there is a museum not far from Ulysse Nardin where quite a few automatons are exhibited, and they can write, sing and move. Quite amazing. This is a century old talent. Watching the birds on the dial move to the repeater is a pleasure to watch, a feast for the eyes and ears. Enjoy the video.
