Moritz Grossmann
Moritz Grossmann is a German watchmanufacturer based in Glashütte in the heart of German watchmaking.
The company was founded in 2008 by Christine Hutter who previously worked at Wempe and A. Lange & Söhne.
Moritz Grossmann has two watchlines: Benu and Tefnut, the latter being for ladies watches.
Moritz Grossmann was one of the top four German watchmakers in the 19th century together with A. Lange, A. Schneider and J. Assmann. Moritz Grossmann was not only a very talented watchmaker who even collaborated with A. Lange to create double signed pocketwatches, he was also the mayor of Glashütte, and he wrote books on watchmaking which are still acknowledged today. His historical significance was the reason why Christine Hutter, founder and CEO of Moritz Grossmann revived the dormant brand. She and her team are still adhering to the historical philosophy of Moritz Grossmann’s literature which primarily described a watch as “simple yet mechanically perfect”.
