News: Bovet 19thirty

Motiers is in the Val-de-Travers, in the Canton of Neuchatel in Switzerland.  And it used to be home to the famous philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau in the 18th century.

Bovet, resurrected in 2001 by Pascal Raffy who is the sole owner now, houses in the Chateau de Motiers which Pascal bought in 2006 from the State of Neuchatel.

The brand itself goes back all the way to 1822.  In the mid 1950s and 60s, they were known for making many nice monorattrapante chronographs and other chronograph watches.  These are quite collectible nowadays.

In 2007 Bovet signed a partnership agreement with the iconic Italian Design House Pininfarinato create their Sports line.

The 19Thirty was first introduced in 2015 with an inhouse movement.  To read futher about the history of Bovet, I can recommend to take a look at their homepage.

Bovet introduced a new 19Thirty just a short while ago and I would like to share first impressions of the timepiece.

Looking at the 19Thirty timepiece clearly shows you its heritage.  It is based on one of the last pocketwatches made by Bovet.

The first 19Thirty was made in 2015 exlusively in steel and turned out to be a great success.  Therefore, Bovet decided to bring a red gold cased model with a choice of three dial colors including black, brown and blue.  The dial is elegantly guilloched in sun ray style.  Numerals are either in Arabic, Roman or Chinese.

bovet 19thirtyI am planning to visit Bovet in 2017 and hope to bring you a comprehensive report on my visit.
