Loading...Quite a while ago, I acquired a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bundeswehr from the 1970s. This is a watch that could never have been bought, as it was only delivered to higherranking officers in the German Army “Bundeswehr”. The watch has a number on the back to help identify it. I longed for this watch for a long time, but was always afraid to buy one as I knew that there are more fake and manipulated watches out there than correct and authentic ones. So my approach was to find someone who could trace the watch back. This watch can be traced back to its original owner, an officer at the “Bundeswehr”. His widow sold the watch to a wellrespected German dealer who then sold it to a close friend of mine from whom I acquired it in the end. These are interesting pieces of history. For anyone looking for such a watch, the most important part is to know the provenance, just like an important piece of art.
