Patek Philippe introduced a new reference 6102 at this year’s Baselworld. Until now, we knew the blue dial version. Now a black dial version was presented and should enter the market later this year.
As you can see the shadows of the letters N, W and E, they must be written on the sapphire glas I assume?
The view through the seethrough caseback on the movement offers a feast for the eyes. That is what Patek Philippe is known for, but not only. They are knowns for complicated wristwatches. And this watch has several unusualy functions:
- Celestial with date
- Date by hand
- Hours and minutes of mean solar time
- Sky chart, phases and orbit of the Moon
- Time of meridian passage of Sirius and of the moon
- Black sapphire-crystal disks for sky background and moon phases
- Transparent sapphire-crystal disk for sky chart and Milky Way
Despite the heft of the watch, and its 44mm casesize, it did not feel as big as I should. That is my personal observation. The black dial shines in all facettes, and the many tiny stars on the dial are attracting your eyes to look at it over and over again.
Technical details:
Compared to the Sky Moon reference 6002 this is like an “entry level” complicated timepiece, at least when talking price. I do not know the exact listprice right now since there were two price increases this year, it is well north of 250000 Euros, possibly close to 300000 Euros. The reference 6002 however is around 1.3 million Euros, another totally different ballgame.
One thing that is for sure though is that complicated timepieces like this are truly rare,
Patek Philippe is not making a lot of them per years, maybe a handful or so. And you never know how long Patek Philippe will make them.
