Usually I do not write about ladies timepieces, but this one is such a beauty and giving me all the reasons to make an exception.
This is a very playful design, very feminine, a fine watch for a lady which loves Valentines Day and appreciates the heaven made of mother of pearl covered with diamond stars and rubies. It is a dial dedicated to the special event of lovers. You find 19 diamonds and 4 rubies on the dial which are fixed under the mother of pearl cover. For the first time, Blancpain presents a moonphase made of sapphire. The moon face (not moonphase) appears to have a somewhat feminine look with a smile on her face. In the 18th century the smile was a sign of good mood.
While the moonphase complication virtually disappeared until the 1980s when it was used again by Blancpain under the leadership of Mister Biver, it is now again a complication you see on ladies and men’s timepieces. The moonphase has become a sign of Blancpain. And as we know, watchmaking and astronomy are closely related.
The seconds hand is a hint to the angel of love Amor or Cupido. The steel case has a size of 29,20mm. The bezel is covered with 48 diamonds and the lugs are covered by 20 diamonds. A diamond is covering the crown. The movement is an automatic winding caliber 913 L. Due to the use of a silicium spirale the watch is antimagnetic.
