My favorite watchdial color is blue. My first better watch I acquired in 1998 actually had a blue dial, a Baume et Mercier Formula S diving watch with blue dial. And now, 18 years later, I see more and more blue dial timepieces entering the market. Could blue be the new black? For the longest time, black dials were the most wanted, and used to fetch the highest prices at auctions.
The pinnacle of elegance in 2016: automatically happier times with a new watch series from NOMOS Glashütte
Glashütte/Berlin, October 2016. Right on time for the New Year, NOMOS Glashütte, one of the most successful German watchmakers in recent years, presents a new series of timepieces: Metro neomatik, Tangente neomatik, and Minimatik—all available in exquisite midnight blue. These three new models form, together with Tetra neomatik nachtblau, a cohesive group within the neomatik family.
Blue is the color of infinity, of the sky, and of the sea. And due to its more poetic, elegant, and refined character, it is also the color that has been gradually superseding black in the timepieces of the Glashütte watchmaking company. The midnight blue exterior of these new watches thus perfectly matches their refined interior—the automatic caliber DUW 3001. This ultra-thin proprietary movement went into series production this spring. Only 3.2 millimeters in height, DUW 3001 gives the new neomatik models their slender and elegant form—while also delivering the highest performance and accuracy. It is the tenth movement developed and produced in-house by NOMOS Glashütte.
These new models will be available starting October 1st, 2016.
Last but not least, here is a view through the sapphire caseback.
