Opening of first European Parmigiani boutique in Munich, Germany

Opening of first European Parmigiani boutique in Munich, Germany

Starting June 19th, Parmigiani Fleurier is opening their first European boutique in the “Hotel Bayrischer Hof” in the center of Munich, one of the most famous hotels in Germany.  Munich belongs to one of the largest and most affluent cities located in Bavaria, the southern region of Germany, close to the alpine mountains.

The opening will be accompanied by an exclusive exhibition which will last until July 15th, 2012.  The exhibit will not only show timepieces from the ‘Collection Atelier’, but also some Automatons like these two, the ‘falcon and his prey’

(taken from pressrelease:

The bustard, made from finely forged metal, ultimately cannot evade the falcon, which seizes it six times every hour. Perched on a sandbank formed of a mineralisation of smoky quartz depicting the desert landscape, the falcon relentlessly pursues its prey. At irregular intervals, the mechanism contained in the base allows the bustard to escape the claws of its predator, which is forever on its tail, thereby intensifying the symbolic power of the falcon, the embodiment of perseverance and tenacity. A gong placed within the mechanism chimes each time the bustard makes its escape.)

(You may not see this at first sight, but the above automaton is actually a clock showing time…  now you can see it?)

as well as the ‘herigian calendar’ which represents the Islamic lunar calender.

Last but not least, the Bugatti Atalante timepiece.

Bugatti timepieces is what Parmigiani has been known for worldwide.  They have made three different Bugatti timepieces to date, the Super Sport, the Bugatti Type 370, and the Atalante Flyback Chronograph.

Personally, I like the GMT Hemispheres with day/night indicator a lot, especially with the havanna brown dial and rose gold case.  A true beauty with a classic and understated appearance yet hiding a very elaborate inhouse movement which is slight set off from the center.

I am going to attend the opening and exhibition of the boutique on June 19th and hope to report more news after my return.  Stay tuned as always.

Spread the love
