Watchstraps by Flat Iron aka Petra

Watchstraps are up and running, they are trendy, and there are groups of watchcollectors who virtually collect straps around their watches.  It is a recent craze that for example Panerai collectors chase all kinds of different watchstraps for their watches, from common plain and simple leathers up to exotic and rare leathers.  There are watchstraps made of baseball gloves, of hornback alligator, and prices can go quite up into the hundreds of Dollars or Euros…

In my hometown, there has been a friend of mine who started making her own straps, primarily for her own watches, in the past years.  While she never intended to “go public” with her strapmaking, things have evolved and now she decided to publicly offer her straps.  I have met her many times, we only live minutes away from eachother, and her strap collection is quite impressive.  I will ask her to provide impressions and photos that I can post another time here in my blog.

The last gig she did for me, was that I gave her my Bavarian childhood leather pants and she made me as a favor two straps from it, a leather nato strap and a rather regular leather strap.  That way, I can keep my memory to my childhood.

I guess I did enough talking, so here you go, take a look at her straps.

Click here first, then continue here.  On the second link, you also find ways to get in touch with her and possibly order your strap.

Her staps are fully handmade, and they take many hours to make. She revealed to me that on average she spends about 8 hours to make a strap.  Considering her work behind her straps, her pricing is more than fair.  But hey, who am I to tell, just check it out yourself.
