Deepsea Challenge sponsored by Rolex

Deepsea Challenge sponsored by Rolex

I think many people are wondering if the Rolex Deepsea really went down into the Mariana trench.  Yes, it actually did.  James Cameron took the dive in his Deepsea Challenger Submarine all the way down, and the Rolex was attached to an outside robotic arm of the Submarine.  You may wonder if the Rolex survived the deep dive?  Yes, it absolutely did, it came back unharmed.

Since Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh were diving down 10898 meters into the trench in 1960, no other human has been down there again.  The deep sea is truly less known to mankind than the surface of the moon.

Here come pictures showing the Rolex Deepsea on the robotic arm:

Last but not least, a comparison of the two submarines that were used for the dive in 1960 and 2012:

James Cameron said that fear is an important part when doing such a mission.  It is paramount for a scientist.  However, he overcame his fear and accomplished a mission that noone else has done in the past 52 years.  Congrats to James Cameron.  My respect.
